Who We Are
Founded by a group of senior search executives in 1974, Columbia Consulting Group is a mid-size, retainer-based executive search firm.
The principals of Columbia Consulting Group bring senior executive experience in financial services, manufacturing, direct marketing, distribution, technology, professional services, health care, and consulting. We understand the internal dynamics of our client organizations. Our associates are trained in the important disciplines of research and analysis, and have developed extensive data bases and networks to provide comprehensive search support services.
Our clients represent a broad spectrum of regional, national and multinational organizations in financial services, communications, consumer packaged goods and services, industrial products and services, technology, manufacturing, insurance, healthcare, education, and non-profit industries. They range in size from start-up organizations to Fortune 100 companies.
Critical to the search process is the capacity of the search consultant to communicate the essence of the career opportunity to potential candidates. Equally critical is the ability of the consultant to discern both the depth and breadth of the qualifications and experience a candidate possesses, as well as his or her “degree of fit” within a client’s culture. We are strategic, not only in our research efforts on specific search assignments, but also in maintaining an awareness of our client’s directions and goals.
Consultative Approach
Our approach to the search process is consultative. In every assignment, we listen carefully to what our clients tell us regarding the professional and personal attributes desired in the candidate. We also absorb as much as we can regarding the culture of the organization and the management style of the leadership team, so that we can accurately represent our client to potential candidates. Such intimate involvement with our clients allows us to make a detailed assessment regarding the degree of “fit” between candidate and client. Our goal is to establish relatively few, yet important, client relationships in each of our major practice areas.
In selecting an executive recruitment firm, the client must feel confident that the organization is being professionally and ethically represented. The executive search consultant is often the only representative of the client with whom a potential candidate comes in contact.
